January 2011

A Site for Sore Eyes

OK, OK. That’s a really bad pun – and not very funny. But it’s my way to welcome you to the NEW Wotamalo District website.

(Cue your favorite “party” song, like Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration.” My brain defaults to Queen’s “We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions” from my high school days.)

I hope you find the organization of information improved, the layout pleasing to your eye, and the actual content found here useful to you and your Scouting unit(s). If you have ideas on how we can make this site better for you, please send an email to me or our webmaster (My email is below; his is on the Contacts page). A website is a constantly moving target, and nobody can help steady our aim better than you.

You’ll find details on the two most exciting events coming up in recent weeks … the Cub Scout Yukon and the Boy Scout Klondike Derby! Some folks may grumble about being out in the cold, but “be prepared” and these events create long-lasting memories for Scouts and leaders alike.

We’ll also be paying tribute to YOU – our district’s many excellent volunteers – at the annual District Dinner on January 27. I invite you to share an excellent meal (catered by Bernardi’s, I hear), enjoy an interesting program, and congratulate this year’s District Award of Merit winners. You can register/request information by clicking on this event in the Calendar section of this site.

These days, more and more communications are online. You and I both know that does not always translate into GOOD communications. We welcome your input as we try to buck this particular trend.

(Thump, thump, clap!)

(Thump, thump, clap!)

Buddy you’re a boy make a big noise
Playin’ in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on yo’ face
You big disgrace
Kickin’ your can all over the place

We will we will rock you …
We will we will rock you …
